Accreditation and Achievements

VAMC Grand Junction has received a number of accreditations and awards. Some of our recent notable accomplishments include —

Quality Awards

The VAMC Grand Junction was the recipient of the 2001 Presidential Award for Quality and the 1999 Robert W. Carey Quality Award Trophy.  These achievements are especially noteworthy because both were earned upon first application.  Of further note, it is the first and only organization in the VA to earn the Presidential Award for Quality.  In 2006, the Medical Center contributed to the successful effort resulting in the VA Rocky Mountain Network's (VISN 19) receipt of the Carey Award.

The Joint Commission  (Formerly  Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations)

In 2007, the VAMC Grand Junction was evaluated by the Joint Commission and received accreditation.  Accreditation is for a period of three years.

College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accreditation

The VAMC Grand Junction Orthotic and Prostetic Lab received this accreditation from the American Board for Certification.
