Welcome to the Department of Education and Development at the VA Western Colorado Health Care System!  We look forward to working with you and making your Clinical Trainee appointment a valuable experience.  The items on this site comprise the preliminary steps and forms that must be completed (at least one month) prior to the start date of your rotation at the VA Western Colorado Health Care System.

VA Western Colorado Health Care System Education and Development provides clinical opportunities to clinical trainees of many undergraduate and graduate professions, including pharmacy, radiology, kinesiology, mental health, physical therapy, chaplains, nursing, and medical residents.  Note: student rotations cannot be accommodated on Federal Holidays.


Affiliated Faculty and Student Steps to VA

Students enrolled in accredited programs which have a current Affiliation Agreement with the VA Medical Center will be permitted clinical learning opportunities at the VA Western Colorado Health Care System.  Prior to ALL Clinical Rotations faculty or program coordinator from the College, University, or Medical program must contact Education and Development to initiate interest in clinical placement by submitting an official request.  To initiate a student clinical trainee rotation please click on the New Students tab above and complete the initial request forms (TQCVL, EPLA).
 
If there is no current Affiliation Agreement, the institution should contact the Academic Affiliations Officer at vhagrjeducation@va.gov to determine appropriateness of affiliation.  If an affiliation is deemed appropriate, an Affiliation Agreement will be mailed to the requesting academic institution, the institution may apply for affiliation by completing and submitting an affiliation agreement and mailing a hard copy back to Education and Development:
